Happy new year...

New years eve Landon had his 1st home series race of the season. It is where all the kids from the Schweitzer team compete against each other. Here is Landon with his buddies Mason and rhys.

Josie and her friend Annie don't race in this race so they were helping with course crew:) It was snowing like crazy and pretty windy.
When the race was almost over the power went out! Some kids were stuck on the chair lift for a while until they could get back up generators to start the lifts. Landon ended up placing 2nd out of the U10 boys.
 His friend wyatt got first.

After the race we headed to our friend Jeff and Julie's to celebrate the new year at 6pm.

Trying to get a picture of Landon not moving...
Josie and her friend Erin sledding.
Jeff sets off a lot of big fireworks and it's fun to watch.

When we returned to the condo we realized that Walter had chewed up the ravens poster that Landon got for christmas. He was so sad.

I think Landon slept in the living room on the floor that night...this is where I found him in the morning.

New years day was beautiful and we all got to ski together.

 Josie and her friend Kaia.
I bought Landon some red pants so it would be easier to pick him out of his group...but it turns out, red is a popular color!
Josie is still loving her free riding group. She is one of maybe 7 girls total on her team.

Schweitzer put in 2 new lifts this summer. This one might be my new favorite.

Last week Joey started to have a bump on his head again where his stitches were. It felt like they had left a stitch in. Luke squeezed it and it popped all over. Monday Joey had to go back to the vet for some more surgery to remove the stitch and some more dead tissue inside his head...Now he will have a cone for 2 weeks.
We were home for a week and then headed back up to the mountain on thursday night to avoid a big snow storm that was coming in on friday. The mountain looked a lot different and they had way more snow than when we left the weekend before.
Friday we were able to ski with the kids.
Landon showed off his one skiing with his friend mason and his dad Dan. They did the mini terrain park on one ski! Landon is wearing the red pants.

Saturday was the 1st big EEYSL race. That stands for Emerald Empire Youth Ski League. It is where all the mountains come together to race and compete. Landon was #48. It was cold and snowing like crazy.
The start gate had a small tent to cover up a bit before the race started.

This was the only video that I got of him racing. It was hard to see the whole course from one spot, He did really well. The course was really rutted due to all the snow but he did amazing.
Landon and his friend Rhys tied for 1st place! This is very very rare and no one had heard of this happening in one of these races before.

The announcer was very confused when reading the results. No one told her about a tie and it was not written down on her paper. All of landon's friends knew he tied and were chanting his name and asking what happened. I got it on video. It was pretty cute to see his friend who he tied with try to explain that he tied with landon.
They will have to order a 1st place medal for Landon, in the mean time he got to share one with his friend Rhys.
Day 2 was windy cold and snowy.
 Landon did really well!

When the race was almost over the power went out! Once again, some of the kids were on the chair lift for about 45 minutes so it took a while to get the chair running again and finish the race.

Landon ended up winning 1st again. No tie this time!
 Awards were in the dark:)

Josie finally got to ski in knee deep powder with her free riding team and had fun helping with landon's race on sunday. We were going to stay up at the mountain until monday morning because the weather was so bad, but then when the power went out, we decided to head home. The roads were pretty bad, but we made it home safely and the kids had a 2 hr delay for school this morning.
 Winter has finally showed up!

We were wiped out after a long cold weekend of ski racing. When we got home the kids decided to go sledding in the dark! I went to bed:) This upcoming weekend the kids get 4 days off so we will head up again on thursday night.
