Thanksgiving in Mexico

Tuesday before thanksgiving we headed out for Mexico. We headed for Cabo San Lucas! It was snowing on the way to the airport so we were excited to head for the heat! The kids were great little travelers!
Landon didn't remember what flying was like so he was a little nervous. He thought we were going to go straight up like a rocket:)
It took a while for them to De-ice our plane.

we flew over the grand canyon.
After 2 flights we arrived in Cabo. We all got our traditional corona's and the kids got soda for the drive to town. It takes about 45 minutes from the airport to our resort. It was sunny and hot.

Our room overlooked the pool and the ocean. The kids were so excited to swim. Landon did really well with his swimming and both the kids were complimented by strangers on how good of swimmers they were:)

This was the view from our room.

what our resort looks like from the beach.

the view from our room at night.

Luke went golfing a couple of days at a course right next to the resort. It was call Quivera.

one time he saw a whale right off of the course.

Our room was the top part of this picture.

Wednesday we went to Walmart to get groceries. When we were there a guy named Hector was trying to get us to attend his timeshare presentation and told us that friday would be a great day to come listen because of the incoming hurricane it would be raining 'cats and dogs'. We had limited internet access so we knew nothing about a hurricane. We ended up signing up for the presentation so we could swim with the dolphins for free....then we looked online and found this! Apparently it was a category 4 but due to a wind shear it quickly dissipated....thank goodness.
We decided to enjoy the weather as much as we could. Thanksgiving day was hot and beautiful. The kids painted pottery by the pool.

Thursday afternoon....The rain started. As it started there was a cruise ship leaving in the rain...I'm glad I was on land and not on that ship.

The Ocean was huge and the waves were enormous.

I took a photo of my parents taking photos:)
They put all the storm covers over the windows.
The kids were using my camera to take pictures of the storm.

Before we went to thanksgiving dinner we went for a walk on the beach.

 we attempted a family photo....

Thanksgiving dinner was not quite the same in mexico as it is in the states....They had a 'traditional dinner'....but I ordered enchiladas instead:) The thanksgiving meal was less than stellar but we made the most of it.

Landon was not impressed with dinner.....
Friday we went to our timeshare presentation...It was awful. They were rude and never really showed us anything. We were not planning on buying anything anyway, we just wanted to get free stuff. Afterwards we went out to lunch at the marina.

 Josie had her hair braided.

This was the view from our free breakfast from the timeshare presentation...
The resort they were trying to sell us had a cool pirate ship in the pool....it was pouring rain.
The sewers were overflowing in the marina and it was all flowing down a boat ramp.
we had to walk on a board to get across the sewer water. ...

There were flamingo's right outside our room

Saturday we woke up to rain...but we figured it was still warm so we might as well go to the pool.
The ocean was still very big....
we went to the Sky pool. It is a pool on the very top of the hill of the resort.

There were plenty of lawn chairs available when it was raining...
Landon loved jumping in and swimming to the side....

This one was out of order...but it was when we were on our way to the timeshare presentation.
This was taken from the top of the sky pool.

I took a picture of josie's hair. We had to take the beads out after the first night because they were hard to sleep in.
Luke and Mom drinking in the rain....
All the workers were wearing rain coats and we were swimming:)

Sunday the sun came back out and the fun continued.

The beach was a gradual slope down to the ocean when we got there. After the storm it was like a cliff.

Josie begged my mom to do water aerobics with her. They do it every day at the pool. Josie was so little she could barely touch the bottom so she kept going underwater.
Landon was doing some water aerobics of his own.

we took a towel folding class at the pool:)

Sunday afternoon we went to swim with the Dolphins. It was just my mom, me and the kids. It was probably one of the coolest things I have ever done. The kids loved it. It was a little intimidating. They are huge and the pool is very deep.

Josie now wants to be a dolphin Trainer. I took their picture with the Trainer Andre's who was our Dolphin Guy:)
Here are some random pics..

There were a bunch of cool shells at the base of the beach where the big waves had eroded the ground.
Monday was our last day. We headed over to the sister resort that we stay at. It is on the sea of cortez side and you can swim in the ocean. It is also where all the vendors are. As soon as you step on the beach you are bombarded by people trying to sell you stuff.

Josie and I in the Ocean.

They have a statue ....who is naked front and back at the pool...Landon thought it was hilarious....

There was a guy with birds at the pool too...Josie thought it was pretty cool to have her picture taken with them.

this man was one of the many trying to sell stuff to Landon...but landon held his ground and said..no thank you:)
The last night we were there we were headed to the marina for dinner. My parents had been talking about going to this lobster restaurant for a couple of years. We all took a taxi to dinner and as we got out my mom tripped on the uneven ground. She took a hard fall right in the middle of the street. She fell in front of a pharmacy so the guy from the pharmacy brought out a stool. He cleaned her bloody knee up and was very helpful. The guy in the red shirt actually ran up the street to grab some medical stuff for my mom...Unfortunately my parents never made it to the Lobster restaurant. A doctor came to our condo and gave her a shot of something and gave her a couple of prescriptions. When my mom got home she went to the dr. and found out she broke a rib!! At least it happened on the last night, not the beginning of our vacation. But it sure sucks that it happened at all.
Luke and I took the kids to dinner...this place makes your salsa and guacamole right in front of you.

 this guy was real:)
we stopped at the mall because the kids wanted to get my mom a gift to help make her feel better. they had their christmas stuff set up.

This is a view from the middle of the resort. It shows all the pathways. It is built on a hill so you take golf cart taxis everywhere.

We had such a great trip, it was hard to come home to reality.....
When we got home there was snow....so we went from one extreme to the next!...
