Ski Racing Finals

Landon started playing Lacrosse this year. He is very excited about it. He told me that he can't wait to tackle people. In lacrosse your not allowed to tackle, but there is contact...He had a fun first practice.

 Friday the kids had their science fair. Landon made his own leprechaun trap.

 Josie's project was her bird house for an owl.

 Friday afternoon Carli and I left with the kids to Wallace Idaho. It is the closest town to lookout pass, where the Ski racing finals are. Luke and Rudy headed to Schweitzer for their annual 24 hours for Hank race. Although this year it wasn't 24 hours long, it was just a 2400 foot GS race with a dinner and auction after. Luke won 2nd place in the snowboarding competition and their team won 2nd place in the team competition.

We have stayed at the Wallace inn several times. It is a really small town and I think this weekend is the busiest weekend for the hotel. Every year the staff get very frustrated because there are hundreds of kids running around and a bunch of drunk parents:) This year, they put up signs before we got there...Good thing we didn't bring our hoverboards!

 We let the kids go swimming and got them to bed early. You have to be to the lodge by 6:30 in the morning so we wanted to make sure we all got some sleep. At the finals you get a 'swag bag' It came with some sweet sunglasses.

 They write the results on a board at the end of the course....Here was Landon's after the first day of racing. They do 2 runs on 2 separate courses and then add the total times up.

 It snowed all day on saturday during the race. The sun finally came out at the end.

 We headed back to Wallace, went out to eat and then let the kids swim in the pool. There were over 30 kids in the pool jumping in and the staff came and yelled at all the kids to stop...Landon decided to do flips under water and hit his forehead on the bottom of the pool! He was ok.

Sunday we woke up bright and early again and headed up for round 2. Day 2 is GS. Luke and Rudy surprised us and got up early sunday and drove to Lookout pass so they could watch the kids race. Josie didn't know Luke was there until she finished her first run!

After Landon's 2nd run the board showed him in 4th place. He was in 2nd place going into the finals for overall points and he just had to beat one kid....We were not sure how that was going to work points wise. Turns out that the person writing the scores on the board wrote down the wrong time...So Landon was really 3rd...which put him 1st overall! 

 The SARS team won the team trophy so all the kids got to rush up and hold the trophy.

 Landon was so proud.

 Landon had come home from school last week with a writing project. In it he said he was going to win this weekend and beat the kid who was in 1st place points wise. He ended up doing what he said. He has so much passion and drive for skiing and loves every minute of it.

Josie is gracious to her brother but she struggles seeing her brother always win. She loves skiing, but just can't seem to make it into the top 10.
