Field Trips, Courage, Hiking,Dancing and a Puppy....

Last week Landon had his end of the year field trip to Turnbull Wildlife Refuge. It is just outside of spokane. He insisted he wear his 'Indiana Jones' hat. Here he is with his friend Kiah.
The 6th graders had a rocket launching competition. Josie's won for best decorated so she won a box of twizzlers.

Friday Landon received an award for Courage at school. We were so proud of him. He has come so far since the fall and has improved with his behavior and school work. I had to borrow Kleenex from the mom sitting next to me.

Friday night we had Landon's friend Kiah's parents over. They bought the 5 acres next door to us and will be building a house there soon. Kiah got a motorcycle and had never been on it so Landon showed her the ropes.

We had a BBQ and a bonfire with smores.

 Me and Alee, Kiah's mom.
Saturday we decided to head to Coeur d'alene and go hiking. The weather was a little ominous but we decided to just go anyway. Our friends live downtown Coeur d'alene so we went to their house and hung out for a while. We went to Lunch downtown. Landon and his friend Mason. Landon and Mason Ski together at Schweitzer. The kids decided to read books at Lunch.
 Josie brought her friend Emma
We stopped for some coffee because it got cold and rainy.
Landon, Emma and Josie...Headed for our hike. It was Sunny when we started out.

About 5 minutes into our hike the sky opened up and it started pouring rain. We were all soaked, but it wasn't that cold so we kept going.
The kids found a rock to take cover under.

When we were on our hike Josie started making whistle noises with a piece of grass between her thumbs. All of a sudden a bunch of turkeys started calling back! It was pretty funny.

The weather cleared up,we dried out and headed home.
Sunday Josie had her end of the year dance recital. She has been dancing every thursday for the past 2 years. They had their end of the year recital at Spokane Community College. Josie did great.

 Josie and her instructor Gail.
The kids Last day of school is tomorrow. They only go for 2 hours, which makes no sense to me, but it's like that every year. I did the Last day of school pictures today because I won't be home tomorrow morning when the kids go to school.
Landon didn't have the same socks or shoes and was missing the arm brace.

Josie will be in 7th grade and Landon will be in 3rd grade this fall.
We have been talking about getting another dog recently and we decided to bite the bullet and get one. We wanted a bigger dog but didn't want the shedding. We found a place about 30 minutes south of here that had Bernedoodles. They are a cross of a Bernese Mountian dog and a poodle. The poodle in them keeps the shedding to a minimum and the Bernese in him keeps them calm. They had a picture of 'Joe'. An 11 week old puppy who was available to take home. We told the kids that we were considering getting him, but didn't say for sure if it was happening. Today Luke and I went and picked him up and surprised the kids when they got home from school. Josie had checked the website that we found him on this morning and noticed that he wasn't on the website anymore. She was so sad because she thought someone else had bought him, but she didn't realize it was us. He came with the name Joe, but we call him Joey.

The cat's were checking him out...

Walter is not a huge fan, but he will get used to him.

He is super laid back. He just laid around and wanted to be held and cuddled.
The kids were very excited. I took a video of the kids seeing Joey for the first time.

Josie's friend gabby came over to meet him.
He was using Josie as a pillow.
So Josie got him a pillow:)

Tomorrow the kids go to school for 2 hours and then they are done. I am still working on growing my hair back.
