Life takes a U turn....

In order to pull the fifth wheel that we got Luke had to get a bigger pick up to pull it with. He drove to Boise last week and picked it up.

There was a fire near our house the other day. They were pretty quick to respond with a helicopter and planes that kept dumping water on it. 

 Last Saturday me and the kids went to float the North Fork of the CDA river. It was a lot of fun! I'm not a fan of rivers and was a little nervous. But the majority of the river is about 1-2 feet deep and it moves pretty slow.

 There is a bridge with a deep spot underneath it and a rope swing. The kids all took turns on the rope swing.

 we continued on, but couldn't remember where the car was parked....

we finally asked some guy who was in his kayak where we were on the river. It turned out that we had floated way past where we were parked so me and alee hitched a ride with him back to our car. 

More boating on lake CDA and blue lake Sunday....

 Carli and I took the kids out on the boat on Tuesday. Jaxs and Landon had pretty cool hair after tubing.

Wednesday morning was when our life took a little detour from what we had planned. Luke went to work to have a meeting with his boss and got laid off. Luke started the Spokane branch of Hudson Bay out of our house 8 and a half years ago. He has provided many job opportunities for friends and his family through Hudson bay and we thought it would be his forever job. Turns out, his reason for being laid off was that his boss didn't like him. His boss had told others that when the owner of the company retired, he was going to get rid of Luke. It makes me sick to my stomach to know that is why he doesn't work there anymore. Luke is a hard worker and has risen from ground zero before so I have no doubt he will rise again. I had planned to take Carli and the kids floating were I had been on Saturday....So Luke said to just go and have fun and keep the kids busy while he cleaned out his office and wrapped his head around what had just happened. It was not the most enjoyable float trip because my head was spinning about what we were going to do...But the weather was great and we had a good time. 

 Luke and I decided that moving forward with building a shop and house on the property next door should be put on hold until we know the future of our financial path. We are going to move up to our condo at Schweitzer. We have to be out of our house by august 20th. With the uncertainty of school and both of us not working...we figured we could just live up at the mountain through the winter and figure life out! The kids were excited to have Luke home in the morning. Landon,Luke and Joey had a sleepover in the living room.

 Friday we slept in and then took the boat out. Luke got to join us!

 Today our friends had a garage sale so Landon and Josie brought a bunch of their stuff down to their house to sell. Landon made $1.50....and Josie made $47.

Landon has a mountain bike camp up at Schweitzer this week, so we are going to head up with a bunch of stuff tomorrow and hang out there all week. We are still trying to wrap our heads around the idea that Luke lost his job and the reasoning behind it. I know everything will work out and I hope the kids understand that we are trying our best to make their lives as stress free as possible, but it's also a lesson for them that life doesn't always go as planned.
