Christmas Break at Schweitzer

The last 2 years we have spend the week after Christmas at Schweitzer for Christmas Camp. Our Condo has no internet or T.V. so we play a lot of games:)

Rudy and Carli bought Landon a walter dog hat for christmas:)
Landon said his favorite part about our week of skiing was the hot chocolate:)
The first day...Landon, Josie, Lila and Jaxs. All ready to go skiing:)
All year Landon has been excited to be a ski racer like his sister. He was super excited for christmas camp....Until a few days before. He decided that he didn't really want to do it and he didn't want to be a ski racer. So, I signed him up for KinderCamp. which is where he went last year to learn to ski. Well, on the first day of Kindercamp he cried when we dropped him off and said he didn't want to go! He loved it last year, so I am not sure what he was stressed out about.
We checked in on him throughout the day and he was having a blast skiing.
After 4 days of KinderCamp he said that he didn't like it because all the kids in his group were too slow and he was tired of waiting for them:) I later learned that he was refusing to eat while he was there. and he was there from 8:30 in the morning until 3 in the afternoon!  Meanwhile the rest of us were having fun on the mountain:) The snow was great and the trees were all frozen and covered in snow.
Carli and I got to ski together for an afternoon.
Josie and Lila are not in the same ski team group, but they always meet up for lunch;)

I found Josie's team when I was on the lift. They were playing 'human slalom'. It is where they make a human slalom course and ski through each other.

 Me and Carli.
Sometimes I catch up with Josie's group and ride the chair lift with her:)
 Me and Josie's ski's:)
Rudy's Boss and his kids were at the mountain for a few days so Josie and Lila skied with them at the end of the day one time.
Thursday Josie had her 1st race of the season. She had her new speed suit and was all ready to wear it....but, it was around 12 degrees outside, so she decided to wear her coat and eventually put on her ski pants too:)
The fog was in the village but it was really cool at the top of the mountain.

There were 22 girls in Josie's age group that she was skiing against. She is skiing against girls who are ages 8-10..depending on their birthdays. She is one of the smallest and youngest.
They do 2 runs and then combine the times to come up with a winner. I was so proud of her...she has really improved since last year.

Josie and her friend Kate on the way up to make their second runs.

After the race the kids got to ski together for a while until it was the awards ceremony.

Lila is in U8 and Josie is in U10. Josie placed 17th out of 22 girls. She was not impressed, but after we looked at her time and compared them to the other girls she realized just how well she did. For some reason the U10 girls are extremely fast! Josie's time was actually faster than a lot of the U12 girls! Crazy! Lila placed 10th out of 16 girls so they both got medals:) I was very proud of both girls.

Friday Josie had the day off from skiing. We took the kids into town. There is a place where they can do crafts and paint. This is the view from our condo. It is so nice:)
We went to Lunch in Sandpoint.

We took the kids to see star wars in 3D. Josie thought it was scary, Landon Loved it!
 Crafting....

When I told landon on Friday night that he had to go to KinderCamp in the morning he freaked out and started crying. He begged me to just ski with him and not send him there. So I agreed:)...It was a beautiful sunny day and there was hardly anyone on the mountain. Josie posed for a picture before she headed off for the day.
Off I went with Landon...He took off like a flash....

At the end of the day he told me that he wanted to be a ski racer and doesn't want to go back to KinderCamp!!! This is AFTER I paid for a season of Kindercamp and told the ski racing program that he didn't want to do it!!

We caught Josie on the lift...but my arm wasn't long enough to get all three of us in the shot.
Landon skied like a champ yesterday and Today. We talked to the ski racing program and they said he can still join, so he is going to try it out next saturday...and Kindercamp said they can most likely refund our money. I love this kid, but he is definitely our challenging one!!

Josie, Lila and Landon after a long week of skiing...
 Sunset from the condo.
After being at the mountain for 8 days, we were ready to come home and relax! Now we go up every weekend. Josie and lila are doing Friday Night racing every friday in January...It will be good practice and the girls are excited to be on the same race team for a while.
