Josie has been wanting to go to Ski camp with her friend Jayna for years. She usually goes to a campfire camp with Jayna at lake wenatchee so we traded that camp for Ski racing camp this year:) Ski camp is at Mt. Hood in Oregon. It's the only mountain in the Northwest that you can ski in the summer on. They train all morning and then in the afternoons they do dryland training. where they go hiking, swimming or some other fun activity. They also learn to wax their ski's and other stuff that ski racers need to know. We dove down on Saturday. Josie was so excited to ski on a 'real' mountain. We didn't tell her that it is a volcano:)
We were a little early for drop off, so we went up to Timberline lodge and hiked around. There is not a ton of snow, but enough to train on.
Landon was scoping it out so if he goes next year he will know what to expect.
We drove to Government camp, which is where the house was that the kids were staying. Josie quickly found Jayna. They are only 2 weeks apart!

After we dropped her off we headed to Hood river and had dinner at the Full Sail Brewery.
We walked down on the beach and watched all the kite surfers.
We spent the night in Hood river and drove home the next day. The coaches sent and post pictures while the kids are there. I am used to Josie being at camp Zanika where they are not allowed to call home while they are there. At this camp so many kids have cell phones and they let them use them for a limited period of time when they are there. Josie had my phone number memorized so I got a call from her the first night she was there. She ended up calling me every night, which was nice.
The kids did two days of slalom training, 2 days of Giant Slalom and 1 day of drills. They had one day that the mountain was too windy to operate the ski lifts so they went into hood river for the day and saw a movie and went shopping:)

I had to work Monday and Tuesday, but had the rest of the week off. We dropped landon off with my parents on wednesday and had a BBQ for the 4th. Thursday we got up early and Luke and I drove to Mt. Hood to pick up Josie. She had a great time and asked if she could stay longer next time;) We went to the Full Sail Brewery again and randomly got seated at the same table outside that we did when we dropped her off.
Josie slept most of the way home.
We ate and then headed home, we got home around 8:30. Friday Josie and I headed up to the lake to go out on the boat with my parents and Landon. I bought a tube for the kids to pull behind the boat. It was a huge hit.
Josie said that the wind hurt her ears while she was tubing and the water hurt her eyes.....So she put in some ear plugs and wore her goggles.....The ear plugs ended up falling out of her ears.
Josie would give the signal for 'slow down'...then landon would give the signal or 'speed up'...Then Josie would grab landon's hand so he couldn't raise his hand.
Saturday we did some fishing in Hawk Creek, which is just down the road from my parents property. We didn't catch anything, but the kids had fun.
Saturday night we went to Deer meadows, just down the road from where my parents property is. They have a golf cart/ side by side/jeep parade. They throw candy to the kids and drive around the area.
Today we headed home. Luke took Landon to Motocross practice. Josie and I stopped by to watch for a little while.
They divided the practice time by ability. Even though Landon is a beginner, there are also big bike's who are beginners too. It makes me nervous having him out there with the big bikes, but he does well and said it doesn't make him nervous to have the big bikes right next to him.
The next Super cross race is in a couple of weeks.
