When your in 1st place...and your bike breaks...

This weekend was the last 2 races of the season for Landon. He had raced at every race in the Black Widow series at Horn Rapids. He was super excited. Luke's parents came up from Portland and stayed in the Tri Cities with us so we could celebrate Landon's birthday too. We headed out to buffalo wild wings because the kids now love that place. I forgot that they love it for the ipads that they have, not so much the food. So, Kind of a bad idea, being that they hadn't seen their grandma since june...We told the waiter we were celebrating Landon's b day so he got a free chocolate cake with ice cream. Trying to get him to smile normal has become a challenge.

Free Dessert!
we went back to the hotel and opened gifts!
Landon got a new KTM model bike, some legos, and a new KTM sweatshirt and a really cozy sweatshirt.

After a little pool swimming, we all headed to bed for a long weekend of racing.
It was cold in the mornings. Josie was bundled up riding landon's bike to pass the time. Saturday Landon did great. He fell in his first race, but still pulled out a 3rd place. Then the second race the leader crashed in front of him and there ended up being a big pile up of riders. Landon was able to maneuver around the downed rider, but they red flagged the race. That means they have to re start the race. So they restarted it and Landon took 1st!

This is Landon's friend Ty that he hangs out with every race in tri cities. He just turned 9 and races with the 'big kids' so landon looks up to him:)

We went to dinner that night and once again told the waiter we were celebrating Landon's b day! Free ice cream!
Sunday started out great! Practice went well and he took 1st in his first moto!

Ty giving Landon some pointers before the race.

Landon had one more race to go. If he got 1st or second he would win the points for the whole series and be 'champion'. If you are a 'Champion' you are invited back to ride for free and get cool prizes and give aways. He took off and was just about to take the lead when all of a sudden he slowed down?! then, his bike just stopped! I couldn't believe it. Luke ran over and it started, yes, there was gas in it, but it just wouldn't go very fast. Poor landon, tried his best, but his bike failed him and he couldn't pull off a win. He was in tears and Luke and I were so sad for him. He was so close to winning it all. We were super proud of him though. He ended up taking 3rd over all in the point standings. He didn't want to take his helmet off for his picture because he had tears streaming down his face. So heartbreaking.
Today was Landon's birthday so I went to have lunch with him at school and brought treats to his class. This is his girlfriend Kiah. they have been 'dating' since last october:)
Landon eating his cupcake in class:)
Landon's class sang him happy birthday today, he chose 'no cha cha cha's' for his birthday song:)

We did so much celebrating this weekend for Landon that today, we are just eating dinner at home and having some cake with the family. Friday landon has a birthday party at laser quest with some friends so the party will continue:)
